A long tradition of hospitality
Our history
A very long tradition of hospitality...
The Hotel Mediterraneo has a long tradition of hospitality and a history that dates back more than 100 years ago…
The building was built in 1912 before the First World War and was the residence of Antonietta Lauro, “Nonna Etta”, great-grandmother and grandmother of those who currently run the hotel.
After World War II the Italian state sent her refugees from northern Italy where civil war had thundered. Nonna Etta lodged them with pleasure.
Those people, so heavily hit by the war, remained enchanted by the place so much so, that once they got their homes back in Turin, Milan, and Florence, they preferred to stay here “for rent” at their own expense.
From this episode, Nonna Etta’s children, the 6 Maresca brothers, conceived the idea of transforming the big house into a hotel. Thus, was born, more than 60 years ago, the Hotel Mediterraneo. So much has changed since that time: generations have followed and new partners have joined the business with us, including the younger generation of the Maresca family.
However, the spirit of hospitality has remained the same! In fact, Hotel Mediterraneo is always a big house that now hosts the extended family made by us, by our loved employees and of course by our new and old customers and friends.
This is one of the reasons why the Mediterraneo is #thepalcetobe !!!
